Men's Track & Field Competes At Highlander Invitational

HOUGHTON, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Michael Segelin breaks the program record in the 300-meter run to lead the Knights at the Highlander Invitational hosted by Houghton College, Friday.

Segelin completed the 300-meter run in a time of 36.05 to record a new Geneseo record and take second place. First-year James Laguerre II (36.61) finished the event in third followed by junior Ben Wach in fourth (36.91).

Sophomore Isaac Garcia-Cassani ran to second place in the 3,000-meter run, crossing the finish line a time of 8:37.07.

First-year Joseph Strassfield and sophomore William Planeta also recorded second-place finishes for the Knights. Strassfield completed the 60-meter dash in 7.21 while Planeta ran the 200-meter dash in 23.36 and Laguerre was close behind in third (23.54).

Senior Aidan Fullerton came in third in the long jump (6.36m) and also had a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.89).

First-year John Ripa ran to sixth place in the mile (4:26.13) followed by junior Alfredo Mazzuca in seventh (4:28.19) and junior Travis Briggs in eighth (4:29.98).

In the 600-meter run, first-years Gillan Faulkner (1:26.70), Lorenzo Mazzuca (1:26.78) and Zachary Hannahoe (1:26.80) captured sixth through eighth place, respectively.

Junior Elineury Collado took fourth place in the 800-meter run (2:02.25) and first-year Kevin Palmisano finished fourth in the pole vault (4.10m).

Geneseo returns to action next weekend at the Bison Open hosted by Bucknell. Events begin Friday, Jan. 29, and continue into Saturday, Jan. 30.
