Men's Soccer Outlasted at RPI, 2-1

TROY, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Austin DeRidder scored for the Knights and junior goalkeeper Liam Dole made four saves but the Knights fell to the host Engineers, 2-1, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • RPI scored just three minutes into the game off of a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead. 
  • DeRidder scored in the 36th minute, lacing a volley from outside the 18-yard box just inside the far post to tie the game, 1-1.
  • In the second half, RPI took the lead on a goal in the 53rd minute and held on to earn the victory.

QUICK FACTS 

  • Geneseo tallied six shots, including five on goal, while RPI tallied 16 shots.
  • The Knights registered two corner kicks while conceding four.

Geneseo (0-2-2) will play its home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 11 when the team hosts Houghton at 7:00 p.m.
