GENESEO N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior forward Ethan Gunty scored the winning goal as the Knights defeated visiting Oswego, 2-1, in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) match-up, Saturday.
The Lakers (4-11, 1-7 SUNYAC) scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute. Sophomore forward Jason Siracuse capitalized on a bad back pass from the Geneseo defense and scored on his second shot attempt after Knights' first-year goalkeeper Dillon Medd made an initial save.
Geneseo (8-5-2, 4-2 SUNYAC) drew level in the 29th minute on a penalty kick after Gunty was taken down in the box. Senior midfielder Matt D'Amico converted the chance, scoring into the middle of the goal past a diving Oswego sophomore goalkeeper Evan Bogucki.
The Knights took the lead in the 64th minute through senior forward Ethan Gunty. He took control of a loose ball near midfield following a short Laker goal kick and scored on a 30 yard looping shot over Bogucki.
Geneseo returns to action Friday (Oct. 21) as it visits Potsdam in a SUNYAC match scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
