GENESEO N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Matt D'Amico scored two goals as the Knights played to a 2-2 tie opposite visiting Hobart, Sunday afternoon.
Geneseo (3-2-1) opened the scoring in the 56th minute. Senior midfielder Alex Clar lobbed a pass in towards the feet of D'Amico. The ball deflected into D'Amico's path off a Statesmen defender and slotted home a shot inside the right post.
Despite playing down a man after a receiving a rd card in the 55th minute, Hobart drew level with the Knights in the 70th minute. First year forward Ben Orr took a cross from junior forward Nick Dosky at the top of the box and finished after a short run.
Soon after, the Statesmen took the lead through senior forward JP White in the 72nd minute. Geneseo failed to clear the ball when first year midfielder Mike Goulart played a though ball in behind the defense to White, who scored off the inside of the left post.
Geneseo got back on level terms in the 79th minute. D'Amico capitalized on a failed clear by the Hobart defense and slotted a shot off the outside of his right foot past Hobart sophomore keeper Alec Kaminer, and into the side netting.
The Knights return to action on Friday (Sept. 23), opening State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play at Buffalo State at 3:00 pm.
