Men's Lacrosse Falls To Cortland, 19-6

CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior attackman Joe Chiara totaled two goals and an assist while junior midfielder Michael Engstrom added two goals but it was host Cortland handing the Knights a 19-6 defeat in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's lacrosse, Wednesday.

A goal by Geneseo junior midfielder Sean Tomkinson tied the score, 1-1, with 11:59 left in the first quarter, but the Red Dragons (10-5, 5-0 SUNYAC) scored 10-unanswered tallies to build an 11-1 halftime lead that proved to be the difference.

Chiara and first-year attackman Zachary DeBottis scored back-to-back goals to start the second half, but it was Cortland out-scoring the visitors 8-2 the rest of the way to take the victory.

Geneseo finishes the season with a 5-8 record, including a 1-5 mark in the SUNYAC.
