Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short Versus Clarkson, 9-8

ORLANDO, Fla. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Steven Cregan scored four goals and added three assists but it was Clarkson holding on for a 9-8 victory over the Knights, Saturday, in a game played at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Geneseo took a 3-1 lead at the 5:34 mark of the first quarter, but Clarkson would respond with a three-goal run to take a 4-3 lead with 8:14 to play in the second quarter.

The Knights (1-2) tied the game, 4-4, but Clarkson would score with three seconds on the second-quarter clock to take a 5-4 lead at halftime.

Geneseo led 7-6 in the third quarter, but Clarkson put together another three-goal spurt to lead 9-7 with 7:36 to play in regulation. Geneseo scored with 1:38 to play in the fourth quarter, but Clarkson won the ensuing face-off and ran out the clock to hold on to the victory.

Senior goalie Adam Perri made 22 saves to take the loss. Junior attackman Andre Keating scored a pair of goals while sophomore midfielder Brad Willows was credited with a goal and an assist. Junior attackman Sam Thompson also scored a goal for Geneseo, which returns to action on Thursday to take on UMass-Boston at 3:00 p.m. in Orlando.
