No. 4 Men's Ice Hockey Moves Past Williams, 3-1

​WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - SUNY Geneseo senior goalie Devin McDonald totaled 24 saves to lead the fourth-ranked Knights to a 3-1 victory at Williams, Sunday. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Senior defenseman Duggie Lagrone made the Ephs pay for an early slashing penalty, taking a feed from junior forward Andrew Romano at the top of the slot and scoring on a wrist shot through traffic with 16:52 on the clock. 
  • With 20 seconds left in the first period, a shot by junior forward Conlan Keenan deflected off the right pad of the Williams goalie where sophomore defenseman Will Campion one-timed the rebound inside the left post. 
  • Geneseo took a 3-0 edge less than five minutes into the second period. Senior forward Zach Lynes finished a rush with a close-range flip with 15:17 on the clock. 
  • The Ephs (3-1) notched a power-play goal with 7:10 left in the third period, but were held scoreless the rest of the way to suffer their first loss of the season. 
GAME NOTES
  • Geneseo is undefeated in its previous six games, including a 4-1 win at Amherst on Saturday to start its weekend Massachusetts swing.
  • The Knights improved to 4-1 in five all-time meetings with Williams. Geneseo defeated the visiting Ephs, 2-1, in the quarterfinals of the 2016 NCAA Division III Tournament in their most recent meeting prior to Sunday. 
  • Geneseo and Williams finished the afternoon tied, 25-25, in shots, as the Knights were held under 30 shots for the first time this season.
