CORTLAND, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Stephen Collins scored four goals to lead the No. 5/6 Knights to a 7-4 victory at Cortland in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's ice hockey, Friday.
Collins and first-year forward Andrew Romano notched a pair of goal in less than two minutes midway through the first period to stake the visitors to a lead after 20 minutes of play.
The Red Dragons (8-8-1, 4-4-0 SUNYAC) opened the second period with two goals in less than three minutes of action, but it was Geneseo (12-2-2, 6-2 SUNYAC) responding with three tallies to re-take the lead. Collins notched a power-play tally in the sixth minute of action before senior forward Connor Anthoine and first-year forward Devin Brink found the net to give the visitors a lead they would not relinquish.
Collins completed the hat-trick 3:38 into the third period, but Cortland could only muster two more goals before Collins closed the scoring in the 15th minute to seal the win.
Sophomore goalie Devin McDonald logged 26 saves to pick up his 11th win of the year in goal.
Geneseo will host No. 3/3 Oswego on Saturday in a 7:00 p.m. face-off.
