GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore guard CJ Burke scored a career-high 20 points while sophomore forward Jack Manke added a career-best 17 points to lead the Knights to an 80-60 victory over Potsdam in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's basketball action, Friday.
Burke scored 14 points in the first 6:28 of the game as the Knights built an early 17-8 lead. A three-point strike by junior guard Charlie Zaepfel followed by a Burke lay-up made it a 29-14 Geneseo edge that was 15 at halftime, 42-27. Burke's 19 points on 7-of-7 shooting and five three-pointers led the way.
Geneseo (11-5, 6-3 SUNYAC) maintained control throughout the second half. Potsdam (1-14, 0-9 SUNYAC) used a 10-0 run to pull make it an 11-point game, 61-50, with 8:45 remaining, but the Knights' lead would balloon back to as many as 22 down the stretch for the win.
Geneseo will host conference foe Plattsburgh on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
