CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Anna Brogan and junior Samantha Childs each pointed out of their respective divisions to lead the Knights to a tie for third place out of nine teams at Sunday's show, host by Cazenovia.
Host Cazenovia finished first with 44 points, followed by St. Lawrence (40), Geneseo and Guelph (32), Syracuse and Ottawa (31), Le moyne and Canisius (27) and Oswego (20) in the team standings.
Brogan finished second in advanced walk trot canter while Childs was second in novice fences and sixth in novice flat to qualify for regionals later this season.
"The Seniors did an exceptional job today both blocking points from other teams and putting points on the point card," said head coach Kim Sanford. "It was a good way to start off the season on different horses which brings a whole new challenge. We are looking forward to having a weekend to recuperate before we travel to St.Lawrence for a back-to-back show weekend."
Geneseo currently ranks third in the region, trailing Cazenovia and St. Lawrence. The Knights will travel to St. Lawrence for back-to-back shows hosted by the Saints on Nov. 19-20.
