Four Knights Selected as SUNYAC Athletes of the Week

GENESEO, N.Y. - Four SUNY Geneseo student-athletes received State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) weekly awards. Senior Luke Holtzman was named Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, senior Laura Barreca was named Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week and junior Sam Montague and sophomore Dana Sorrentino were named Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.

Holtzman took a first place finish at the Oswego Invitational on Saturday, traversing the 6k course in 18:54.9. He led a Geneseo contingent that finished with a perfect 15 points for first place out of four teams.

Barreca finished first in the Oswego Invitational, crossing the finish line in 14:44.0. Barreca led the Knights to a first place team finish, as the team scored 17 points to top Oswego and William Smith.

Sorrentino and Montague played together at the Mary Hosking Invitational, earning a pair of victories to advance to the B Doubles semifinal round. The duo defeated Kristin Aubie and Carmen Navas-Davis (RIT), 8-4, in the first round and earned an 8-5 victory over Sarah Bargamian and Ndanu Mutisya (Hamilton) in the quarterfinals. Sorrentino and Montague fell to B Doubles champions Maggie Bonomo and Caitlin Chichora (William Smith) in the semifinals, 8-2.
