Four Knights Named SUNYAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year

GENESEO, N.Y. - Four SUNY Geneseo student-athletes were named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Scholar-Athletes of the Year, announced earlier this week. Men's track & field junior Luke Holtzman, women's track & field junior Laura Piazza, men's swimming & diving senior Jeff Doser and women's swimming & diving senior Natalie LaCourt each received the conference honor in their respective sports. 

A junior chemistry major with a 3.93 GPA, Holtzman was named a Goldwater Scholarship winner this past winter. On the track, he led off the Knights' national championship distance medley relay team during the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships after also winning a SUNYAC Championship in the mile.
 
Piazza has compiled a 3.89 GPA as a double major in psychology and communication. She was crowned SUNYAC Champion in the pole vault with a meet record and conference record-tying performance of 3.70 meters (12' 1.5"). Piazza also qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, finishing in a tie for 11th place. 

LaCourt has earned a 3.98 cumulative GPA as a mathematics and English double-major. She was a 2018 SUNYAC All-Conference First Team selection, earned the 2018 SUNYAC Elite 20 Award and qualified for NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships as part of the Knights' conference-record 200 free relay team. 

Doser has tallied a 3.86 GPA as a biology and mathematics double-major. He is a four-time All-SUNYAC selection and qualified for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships for the second-consecutive year. He was named a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, and earned the James Fulton Award at this year's SUNYAC Championships.
