GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore outside hitter Grace Cergol landed her second-straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Volleyball Athlete of the Week honor, announced Monday.
Cergol helped lead the Knights to a 3-0 week, including a 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-16) sweep of Pitt-Bradford their home on Tuesday (Sept. 13) and a tri-meet sweep over Gallaudet, 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19) and host Morrisville, 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-12) on Friday (Sept. 15).
Cergol compiled 14 kills and a .355 hitting percentage to go along with 11 digs in the win over Pitt-Bradford. She also logged 17 kills and 18 digs opposite Gallaudet before totaling 14 kills, 12 digs and four service aces in the Morrisville victory.
Cergol currently leads the SUNYAC and ranks sixth in Division III with 4.80 kills per set and also stands fourth in the league with 4.35 digs and 0.50 service aces per set.
Geneseo (6-4) hosts SUNY Poly on Tuesday (Sept. 19) at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to Plattsburgh for the first SUNYAC Pool Play of the season this Friday and Saturday (Sept. 22-23).
