Athletic Department Hosts 17th-Annual Athletic Awards Celebration

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation hosted its 17th-annual Awards Banquet, Sunday morning, in the MacVittie Student Union Ballroom.

Several student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding achievements, both on the playing field and in the classroom over the last academic year. The department also handed out its nine major awards while all members of the Class of 2017 received a special award in appreciation of their service to the department.

Below are the three finalists for the department's nine major awards with the winner listed in bold.

Nick Hayes Memorial Award
Presented to the senior student who has the most outstanding contribution to the athletic department in a non-playing capacity.

Fred Bright Outstanding Male Contribution & Leadership Award
Presented to the senior male student-athlete who has significant athletic achievement and has demonstrated a personal commitment to the college's values of service, leadership, community and excellence.

Fred Bright Outstanding Female Contribution & Leadership Award
Presented to the senior female student-athlete who has significant athletic achievement and has demonstrated a personal commitment to the college's values of service, leadership, community and excellence.

Dr. Dan Mullin Scholar-Athlete Award
Presented to the senior male student-athlete who has the most outstanding combination of athletic achievement, grade point average and academic honors in his career.
