GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in conjunction with the One Love Foundation will host "Yards For Yeardley," on Wednesday, April 26 as a part of a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) initiative to raise awareness for domestic violence and relationship violence.
Student-athletes, faculty and staff members, as well as the campus community will be asked to run or walk in an effort to accumulate a distance of 1,000,000 yards in an effort to promote awareness of domestic and relationship violence. The ultimate goal is to accumulate over 10,000,000 yards across the 10 SUNYAC member institutions to raise awareness for domestic violence and relationship abuse. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the ISC Focal Point near the Campus Green.
The Yards for Yeardley initiative was created by the One Love Foundation, an organization created in memory of former University of Virginia women's lacrosse player Yeardley Love, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in 2010.
